As a keen tennis player, I would love to be an inch or two taller.
While I’m certainly above average in height (around 6’1”), having a tall physique can really help with your serve.
It would mean a few more aces and I’d probably win a few more matches!
However, while being tall has its advantages in tennis and some other sports, in day to day to life sometimes it can be a burden.
If you’re a tall dad, some baby products just aren’t suitable or comfortable to use.
Fortunately with baby carriers, if you’re thinking of buying one, you’re in luck because they are several options.
They come with options such as adjustable straps, extra-large seats, and lumbar support for comfort and sturdiness which make certain carriers perfect for dads of all shapes and sizes.
If you’re in a hurry, here is my verdict on 3 of the best baby carriers for tall dads
- TBG Tactical Baby Carrier (best overall)
- Evenflo Breathable Soft Carrier (best budget option)
- Tula Free-to-Grow Baby Carrier (best for larger dads)
This article will look at these 3 options in more detail…
If you’re looking for a baby carrier, you’ll find it much easier than you may think because you do have options nowadays.
If you’re looking for features that are suitable for taller dads, here are a few to consider:
- Baby wraps: These are great for larger dads because they are essentially long pieces of cloth with adjustable buckles that can fit people of nearly all sizes.
- Baby carriers with little to no padding: These are good because there is no extra material to get bunched up and become uncomfortable for larger dads.
- Baby carriers that face frontwards: These are good because putting baby on your back can get awkward and uncomfortable when you’re a big guy.
- Ergonomically designed baby carriers: These are specifically designed for extra comfort regardless of your overall size.
In addition, finding baby carriers that have parts that are adjustable, such as the straps and the seat itself, are good because they are usually the ones that can adjust to parents of a bigger size.
a) Best Overall Baby Carrier
Of all of the baby carriers made for big and tall dads, the TBG Tactical Baby Carrier is highly rated as the best overall carrier.
It has a military-style design and comes in basic black. Its features include a removable liner that is also washable, a lightweight and minimalist design, and adjustable buckles that allow it to grow along with the baby.
The wide bottom on this carrier accommodates baby’s hips and its open back makes for great temperature control to keep both dad and baby more comfortable.
The carrier has been tested on men up to 6’5” and 270 pounds or more and every one of them found it very comfortable. Best of all, it can be adjusted quickly and can therefore fit both mom and dad comfortably every time.
b) Best Affordable Baby Carrier
As you likely already know, baby carriers can be expensive, especially if you’re looking for one that is specially designed for larger individuals.
One carrier, however, stands out as an inexpensive option and that is the Evenflo Breathable Soft Carrier. With this carrier, baby can face either in or out and it has breathable mesh panels to keep both baby and parent a lot cooler.
In addition, this carrier offers back straps that are padded and adjustable for the ultimate in comfort, a removable bib, and the capability to be machine-washed, which is convenient for all types of parents.
At a weight of under 3 ounces, it is also a lightweight carrier that you’ll have no problems utilizing every day if you need to.
The Evenflo carrier is also priced at under $20, which means that it is a product that is not only useful but affordable for nearly everyone.
c) Best Baby Carrier for Larger Dads
If you’re looking for something for slightly larger dads, the Tula Free-to-Grow Baby Carrier is it. If there’s one word that can best describe this carrier, it’s the word “adjustable.” There are three width settings and two height settings that can accommodate babies of any size but also allow dads to be more comfortable as well.
The carrier comes in a wide variety of designs and colors, including some very masculine ones, and its back straps are adjustable and thick, which means that dad’s shoulders and upper chest will never be uncomfortable.
It is also made to be comfortable regardless of the season; best of all, baby will be nice and snug the entire time.
Indeed, the Tula baby carrier is made to stay with you for a very long time and you can use it for anything from household chores to long hikes, both of which will be comfortable for both of you.
A baby carrier is a great option if you like to be on the go, and don’t want to use a stroller every time you step outside the front door.
Hopefully one of these three options will be the right one for you.
