The American wonderkid Ben Shelton is starting to establish himself as a really good ATP player. Apart from his incredible attitude on the tennis court, the most impressive thing about Shelton is his serve. For his length, he got one of the best serves in the world.
With his powerful serve and groundstrokes, a lot of fans are curious about the racquet Shelton plays with. That’s what we will go through in this post.
Ben Shelton currently plays with the Yonex EZONE 98. He strings the racquet with Yonex Polytour Rev. Shelton has used this racquet setup since early 2023. Before that, he played with the Yonex VCORE Pro 97 HD.
The Yonex EZONE is not only used by Ben Shelton; it’s also used by players like Nick Kyrgios and Casper Ruud. It’s currently the 5th most popular racquet among the top 100 players on the ATP Tour.
Since his junior days, Shelton played with the Yonex VCORE Pro 97 HD, and many thought he would continue with this racquet and use a Yonex EZONE paint job. However, he decided to switch out the frame at the beginning of 2023, and it seems to be working out great for him!
Here are Ben Shelton’s racquet specs:
- Head Size: 98 sq. in
- Length: 27 in
- Weight: 11.4 oz / 323g
- Balance: 6 pts HL
- String Pattern: 16×19
- Swingweight: 318
The EZONE is very similar to the VCORE Pro 97 HD in terms of feel, which likely made the transition to the EZONE relatively seamless for him.

Embed from Getty ImagesI saw pictures of Shelton playing with the Yonex VCORE Pro 97 HD as a 16-year-old, but he may have used it even earlier than that. Anyway, he used this racquet until the end of the 2022 season.
He was seen playing some challengers with the Yonex EZONE in late 2022 but fully made the transition at the Australian Open 2023.
