Carlos Alcaraz’s Tennis Shoes

Carlos Alcaraz is the next big star in men’s tennis. I’ve never seen a more talented player in my life, including Nadal, Federer, and Djokovic. If he can stay away from injuries, I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends his career as the greatest of all time.

I did an article about his tennis racquet, but what about his tennis shoes?

Carlos Alcaraz currently wears the Nike Air Zoom Vapor Pro. Ever since he got sponsored by Nike in 2020, Alcaraz has used different versions and colorways of the Nike Vapor. Before that, he was sponsored by Lotto and wore the Lotto Mirage 100.

The Nike Air Zoom Vapor Pro is not only used by Carlos Alcaraz, it’s actually the most popular shoe on the ATP Tour. Apart from Alcaraz, players like Holger Rune, Andrey Rublev, and Karen Khachanov also wear this on the court.

As you can imagine, it’s just as popular at the recreational level. A combination of style and exceptional performance in a very lightweight package is what makes this shoe so popular.

When it comes to sliding and traction, it’s one of the best on the market for tennis players. Due to the weight, durability isn’t the best, but it’s what to expect with such a lightweight shoe.

Here’s how Tennis Warehouse rated the shoes:

The Nike Air Zoom Vapor Pro is the most popular tennis shoe in the world, so as you can expect, it’s available in most tennis stores. However, as I’m writing this, I found the lowest price on Amazon. You can check the current price here.

Carlos Alcaraz Tennis Shoe History

Carlos Alcaraz switches his footwear pretty frequently, everything from different shoe brands to many different colorways of his Nike Vapors.

Here are the tennis shoes Carlos Alcaraz has used in the past:

As a 12-year-old, Alcaraz got a sponsor contract with the Italian tennis brand Lotto, and he wore their shoes until the contract ran out in January 2020.

When he was sponsored by Lotto, he wore several different versions of the Lotto Mirage. In the picture above, you can see him wearing the Lotto Mirage 100 (the same model that Matteo Berrettini used to wear).

In 2020, Alcaraz got a sponsor deal with Nike and started wearing different versions of the Nike Vapor.

He started with this shoe, an older version of the Nike Vapor Pro. Apart from the design, it’s very similar to the pair he wears today.

Throughout the 2021 season, Alcaraz continued to use the Nike Vapor, but kept changing the colorway. In the picture above, you can see him wearing a blue version instead of the green he used to wear.

When the 2022 season started, Alcaraz switched to the white/red colorway of the Vapor Pro. In my opinion, these are the best-looking shoes that he has ever worn. He used this colorway during the Australian Open 2022 and throughout the US swing before the clay season started.

When the 2022 clay court season started, Alcaraz switched to a grey version of the Nike Vapor. Personally, not a fan of this colorway!

At Wimbledon 2022, Alcaraz changed to the same colorway that he uses now, the all-white with black stripes. However, he only used this colorway in Wimbledon due to the all-white rule. All players participating in Wimbledon need to wear white, from top to toe.

Mid to late 2022, Alcaraz switched back to the blue version of the Nike Vapor. He used this colorway when he won his first Grand Slam at the US Open

After some injuries at the beginning of 2023, Alcaraz has only used this white colorway of the Nike Air Zoom Vapor Pro. The same colorway that he used at Wimbledon in 2022.
