The American tennis star Frances Tiafoe is one of the most athletic and agile players on the ATP Tour. He loves to entertain the crowd, but sometimes it feels like he tries to do that a little too much (for his own best).
Apart from his racquet, a lot of fans are curious about his tennis shoes. That’s what we will go through in this post.
Frances Tiafoe currently wears the NikeCourt Air Zoom GP Turbo Osaka. As a junior, Tiafoe wore Adidas shoes, but since 2017, he has only worn different Nike models.
Tiafoe is the only player on the ATP wearing this shoe. It’s inspired by the WTA player Naomi Osaka, and as you can imagine, she also wears this shoe. Osaka designed this shoe together with Nike, and it expresses her 2 passions, tennis and gardening.
The design is a bit of a hit or miss; either you love it or hate it. I think it looks great on a player like Naomi Osaka, but in my opinion, it doesn’t fit Tiafoe’s style at all.
Apart from the design, this shoe is known for its comfort and durability. It’s very lightweight, but it lacks a bit when it comes to stability.
Here’s how Tennis Warehouse rated the shoes:
While the regular Nike Air Zoom GP is pretty common to see on the local tennis court, the Osaka version that Tiafoe wears isn’t as popular. But that may change very soon!
I listed what tennis shoes all the ATP top 50 players wear in this post.
